SHORT NOTE ON THE PALLIATIVES “DISCOVERY”

I can barely wrap my head on the ‘discovery’ of the initial warehouse in Lagos, where the supposed food items donated by the private sector were hoarded.

Before one can bleep an eyelid, more discoveries were made in other places.

As if that was not enough, I heard the most unintelligent argument in my entire life. The Governors’ forum or whatever body claimed they ‘reserved’ it for the second waves of covid-19.

Some questions, as I am actually not in the mood to write.

What is the role of the civil servants in the hoarding enterprises?

What if a lot of the people do not make it to the ‘second wave’?

Who is mindful of the shelf life of the products?

Was the storing arrangement conducive to preserving the items?

Was there any disclosure that such an arrangement existed until the ‘discovery’?

How did some of the items get into private residencies, so much that it was slated as birthday gifts?

It is on record that the whole lot was a donation from the organized private sector to the government. Why would the government who failed to help people through the difficulties of lockdown, now justify hoarding what was provided by a third party?

Now in an unfortunate twist of events, the innocent businesspeople have become victims of reckless looting of what they sweat for. How will these people be compensated?

Now that the governors have shamelessly agreed to the hoarding, what will be the consequences of their actions?

If civil servants were involved in the process, why was there no whistleblowing before the ‘discovery’?

All the same, many thanks to the Mungo Parks that finally ‘discovered’ the warehouses.

Please let those looting private warehouses know that those were not part of the ‘discoveries.’

WHERE THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY, THE RULES OF THE JUNGLE SUBSISTS.

Let us stop all this wickedness against ourselves even if we think we can argue it away with flowering linguistic embellishment.

Wetin nor good nor good forever.
